Ridge Merino Goes Beyond “Pink” For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Ridge Merino Goes Beyond “Pink” For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Company Will Donate Five Percent of Women’s Product Sales to Breast Cancer Fund

Ridge Merino announced today that, in the month of October, the company will donate five percent of sales from all women’s Merino products sold through ridgemerino.com to the Breast Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing breast cancer by eliminating exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign to increase awareness of the disease.

"Even though Ridge is a small company, we realize the importance of giving back to an organization like the Breast Cancer Fund, which focuses on prevention by understanding the environmental links to the disease and stopping it before it starts,” said Jeff Russell, Chief Executive Officer of Ridge Merino.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States.

“In just a generation we’ve witnessed a 40 percent increase in breast cancer, and we know that environmental factors like toxic chemical exposures have played a major role,” said Jessica Smith, Manager of Partnerships at The Breast Cancer Fund. “We are pleased to receive support from socially responsible businesses like Ridge that share our commitment to protecting our health and the health of our environment.”

About Ridge Merino

Named one of Outside Magazine’s “Six Best Outdoor Clothing Companies You've Never Heard Of," Ridge Merino develops premium Merino wool apparel and accessories that perform as well in every day life as they do in the most rigorous outdoor conditions. Entirely natural, renewable and biodegradable, Merino wool is an active fabric that reacts to changes in body temperature - insulating when it’s cold outside and cooling when it’s hot. Ridge sells online, eliminating the middleman (retailers), which allows the company to offer the same or better quality at a lower cost, sometimes up to 50 percent less than brands with similar products. Every Ridge purchase gives back to environmental initiatives through its partnership with 1% For the Planet.
